Extension Privacy Policy
This policy describes how the Hadgal Connector browser extension (Chrome, Edge, Opera, Firefox) handles your data. The extension is a companion to the Hadgal desktop app and operates entirely on your local machine.
1. What data does the extension access?
Cookies
The extension reads authentication cookies from YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, Twitter/X, and Vimeo solely to authenticate your download requests. Cookies are sent only to the Hadgal desktop app running locally on your machine (localhost:7842) and are never transmitted to any remote server.
Active tab URL
The extension reads the URL of the active tab to detect video pages and extract video metadata (title, thumbnail, duration). No browsing history is collected or stored.
Page content
The extension scans the current page for video elements and their metadata to populate the download popup. This data is processed locally and is not sent anywhere except to the Hadgal desktop app on your machine.
2. What data is NOT collected
The Hadgal extension does NOT collect, store, or transmit: • Your browsing history • Passwords or login credentials • Personal information • Cookies from sites other than the supported video platforms • Any data to remote servers — all communication is local (localhost only)
3. Permissions explained
cookies
Required to read authentication cookies from supported video platforms so that private or age-restricted videos can be downloaded through the Hadgal desktop app.
activeTab / tabs
Required to read the URL and content of the current tab to detect videos and extract metadata for the download popup.
scripting
Required to run content scripts on the active tab to locate video elements and gather video information.
storage
Used to persist a small amount of extension state (e.g., last-used settings) locally in the browser. Nothing is synced to external servers.
4. Local communication only
All data the extension sends — including cookies and video URLs — is delivered exclusively to http://localhost:7842, the Hadgal desktop app running on your own computer. No data leaves your device through the extension.
5. Third-party services
The extension itself does not contact any third-party services. The Hadgal desktop app it communicates with uses Google Sign-In and QPay for authentication and payments — those are governed by the main Hadgal Privacy Policy at hadgal.com/privacy.
6. Data retention
The extension stores no persistent user data beyond local browser storage for settings. Cookie data is passed directly to the desktop app and is not retained by the extension itself. Uninstalling the extension removes all locally stored extension data.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy when the extension is updated. The latest version is always available at hadgal.com/privacy/chrome-extension. Significant changes will be noted in the Chrome Web Store update notes.
